Radio Shows and Poetry

The thrill of having a book that has come out after a long time of trying to get it published is the excitement of doing a radio talk show about your book. I was thrilled that the hosts not only asked about some of the characters, but they had seen my web-page and asked about the poetry I used to write years ago to Allpoetry.com.

It was an amazing feeling to realize that you weren’t on the show to just hawk your book to try to get enough interest in writing the next one.

YouTube Cooks With Gusto!

I love these guys!

Their cooking rocks! I love the ingredients in their sauce. One day, when I don’t have to deal with children, I’m gonna crack that sauce recipe!  I’d love to use it as a grill marinade and also inject it into the next turkey I’m gonna deep fry!

Yeah Baby!!

Big BIG things this week in my little neck of the world! First off, my website, http://www.kayceenilson.com has been updated with not only the information on how to order my book, but there are links to the new blog entries and also columns written since the last year.  I’ve been working the past two days on a book trailer to be posted on YouTube and I’ve also done an interview about my book and about why I write.

How Sweet It Is!!

Today I received the email that I have waited six years to get. My book, Night Falls On Chicago, is IN PRINT!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHH! It's so fabulous to know that the hard work and going from publisher to publisher has paid off and now I have sent my words like a ship on the ocean of literature.

Next step, market market market! Need to sell enough to get myself a car. We have one car between Hubby and I, but when you have kids that are into Scouting and church activities, having only one car during the months of January to April STINKS!

Resolutions For The New Year

Everyone blogs and writes and states what their New Year’s Resolutions are going to be. Nine times out of ten, those resolutions are forgotten long before the underpants from the night before are changed.  They are often good intentions going into the making of the resolutions, stop smoking, lose weight, exercise more, eat better, etc.

This year, I want to do something different, I want to take a cue from a friend of mine and make resolutions that are not only going to be fun to keep but fun for others to read as well.

Heaven's Newest Guardian Angel

Last night, Brooklynn Faith lost her fight.

Today, I try to put reason and ease into my own heart. But I can't . She was just a baby for crying out loud! How will she know what the first day of school is like? How will she know what falling in love, getting your first kiss, going to your first school dance, having your heartbroke is like?

Hurt Hits Heart BAD

Every day I get hit with prayer requests from different people wanting me to add people to my prayer list and I do so with a open and happy heart. I’m not happy because of the reasons WHY I’m praying for people that I don’t personally know, because it’s mostly prayers for people who are very sick and close to death.

But one request hit me in the heart and hit me hard because my oldest granddaughter is the same age as the child I’ve been asked to pray for.

Dance Like You Mean It

It’s Christmas Eve, Eve, Eve and I’m spending a few moments on the desktop to get out a few thoughts before taking some time to spend with my husband and my youngest before the New Year is here and we return to a life of Hubby being at work 13 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Babysitting, Movies and Other Fun Stuff

Every year I love to watch “A Christmas Story.” Tonight I sat with my great-niece and watched it with her while Hubby and the youngest went off to church. By her reactions to the movie, I am assuming it was her first time to watch it. But then again she’s 5 and thinks the Care Bears are a new thing.

What I Want For Christmas

This week in my Scout Meeting, I had my den working on our Christmas Presents to our parents. As we happily worked, I fed the kids mini candy canes, we talked about what Christmas is, and the hopes we have on things we want from Santa Claus this year. This morning, as I thought more about Christmas Morning and the thing I want most from Santa, the only thing I want this year is a gift to help me live to see next Christmas.

The Brighter Side of YouTube

I spend a lot of time on YouTube watching funny clips of videos that people post while I’m in the process of getting a chemo treatment. My favorites have been a series of wildlife videos narrated by a guy named Randall. Most of you have seen “Honey Badger,” I’m sure by now. If not, you need to see it!

The Worst Diet Plan Ever

Since January of this year, I’ve been battling Ovarian again. Just about every two weeks I go and get the shot in my butt, making me sore for a couple of days and nauseated and unable to eat for about a week. Needless to say, I’ve lost weight since my photo was last taken. I’ve also discovered bald spots that no matter what Drag Queen I enlist to help me with my hair, we can’t hide anymore. I’m considering shaving off the rest of my hair. Just seems like it would be logical since I’m losing it at an alarming rate anyways.

Say What Philadelphia???

Does life imitate art, or does art imitate life? Following the sordid tales of one Linda Weston, age 51, I couldn’t help but ask myself that question over and over again.

Oh Yeah, I Called This One In!!

For weeks I have been glued to both the television and the Internet for days on end watching the trial of Dr. Conrad Murray occur out in Los Angeles California. Today, the jury came back with a verdict of GUILTY of MANSLAUGHTER. The Houston Cardiologist could face four years in jail and he will be stripped of his medical license, no matter how long the judge sentences him for.

The Many Sides Of Cides

There are many names that are in use for different types of murder. Matricide, Patricide, Homicide, Suicide and now we add the word Bullycide. What is Bullycide and how is it coming into play in today’s society?
